Ocean’s Eleven meets Bernard Madoff, Tower Heist is fun fluff that somehow manages to balance comedy and action with bits of social commentary.
George Clooney’s new political thriller is likely to keep you feeling uncomfortable, which seems to be its exact intent. It is a well crafted film that enjoys excellent performances and a steady directorial hand.
Between a fresh way of telling a story, Pitt’s exhilarating energy, good support from Jonah Hill as Beane’s nerdy assistant, and capable direction, Moneyball hits the mark.
To its credit, the film does have a few bright moments including its opening scene, and a handful of other scenes. But all in all, what a letdown.
Warrior is an engaging film with violent, yet exhilarating fight scenes, and a climax that makes one forgive most of the sorry scenes that go in between the fighting.
The Debt is an uneven film. It has some gripping scenes, twists, and an edge a good thriller should have. The story intercuts between the past (Nazis, Soviets, Mossad and then some) and the present.
