Why We Fight (2005) ****

Inspired by Eisenhower's farewell address as President, in which he warned the nation about the military–industrial complex: a dangerous mix in which economics and non-military forces dictate whether the USA should go to war, this documentary will make you either nod your head in agreement, or discard with contempt.

Where Do We Go Now? (Lebanon, 2011) ***

All in all, the plot doesn’t hold the weight of the topic at hand, and the switching between laughs to tears with an occasional musical beat are just awkward. Still, kudos for the attempt.

Meet John Doe (1941) *****

If you have never seen Meet John Doe, a Frank Capra film, starring Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck, you are in for a treat. This film has it all (well, almost all): witt, romance, journalism, policits, corruption (or am I repeating myself?...) and even, yes, possibly the roots for the Occupy movement...

Fist of Fury (Hong Kong AKA The Chinese Connection, and The Iron Hand in the USA, 1972) */*****

With a plot as thin as a rice-paper, this Bruce Lee film, has earned a rare one-star, but when it comes to the fighting scenes, its a shining five-star.

The Ghost Writer (2010) ****

What makes this film work is the sense of curiosity-that-killed-the-cat which Polanski is able to bring forth through McGregor skeptical character.

The Ides of March (2011) ****

George Clooney’s new political thriller is likely to keep you feeling uncomfortable, which seems to be its exact intent. It is a well crafted film that enjoys excellent performances and a steady directorial hand.
