Trust Ang Lee to take a mystical magical story such as Life of Pi, and turn it into an enchanting screen experience. It is simply superb. Credits also go to screenwriter David Magee, as transferring this complex story into a script is no small task.
Lee made a wise decision, casting the main roles with actors mostly unknown in the West, thus increasing the story’s credibility. I can go on and on about how enjoyable this film is – fantastic directing, excellent acting, cinematography, effects, music and editing, but that would only undermine an experience I wholeheartedly recommend you go see for yourself. Try catching it on the big screen, and if possible, 3-D would be a great choice for this particular movie.
I admit I had high expectations, and am glad to report I was not disappointed! It is rare I give a film five-star rating, this one gets it.
