In this documentary, filmmaker Lisa Immordino Vreeland takes us to a journey through Peggy Guggenheim’s celebrated life. It is a well-composed character-study of what made the Guggenheim heiress tick. Ultimately, there is no one simple answer. Was it her genes, her loss of her admired father at a young age, or her lack of attractive appearance that acted as the driving force? Whatever the cause, the results were fascinating, and, at times, humorous.
Ahead of her time, Peggy Guggenheim’s passion for the modern art movement, and even more so, to the artists behind it, whose beds she frequently shared, is a noteworthy tale. With names such as Samuel Beckett, Max Ernst, Jackson Pollock, Alexander Calder, Marcel Duchamp and many others decorating her life, Peggy acted as a common thread; a beacon for the avant-garde, and, at times, practicaly a life-savor sage.
Recommended for any art lover, including those who do not care for modern art, as this story is not so much about art as about passion.
