The Woman in Black (UK, 2012) ***

The Woman In BlackThis horror-thriller film, directed by James Watkins and written by Jane Goldman (based on Susan Hill's novel of the same name,) could have been much better if it would have focused on the psychological rather than be yet another genre horror flick. I admit I do not fancy horror movies and actually happen to see this film by chance, so this may not be a great reference if you love this sort of genre. However, there is quite a bit of unrealized potential to the story that it feels like amiss. With that said, the film’s visuals are well supportive of the narrative, and Daniel Radcliffe’s acting, supported by several other talents including Ciarán Hinds, is quite good, lending credibility and sympathy to the main character.
