In Time (2011) **

In TimeWatching In Time brings to mind a futuristic sci-fi remake of Bonnie and Clyde. As a story, In Time holds an original grain --  the idea that in the future money is time, and that a person's lifespan will be determined by his wealth in a sort of a Darwinistic variation. The problem is that the audience gets the basic ideas, which are pretty much spelled out for us, very quickly – the desire to be immortal, the need for lifespam expiration, that living fully for a day is much more that just existing for a millenium, and that if for someone to be immortal others have to die, its plain and simple wrong. But in no time the plot becomes expected and dull, barely holding an interest. For this story to work a more sophispticated approach was needed, and more trust on the filmmakers’s end that the audience will get the message without chewing it for us. This film is a miss.
