This Swedish comedy with the very long title (in Swedish it's: Hundraåringen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann,) was directed by Felix Herngren to a script by Felix Herngren, Hans Ingemansson and Jonas Jonasson. It is based on a novel of the same title by Jonas Jonasson.
Think of this film as a Swedish adaptation of Forrest Gump. Here too we have a protagonist whose life-story spans events and generations, putting him in front of world leaders, scientists and rebels. Still, while Forrest Gump was a historical reflection with a wink, this flick is all comedy, and quite an absurdist at that. At times it even seems to be poking fun at itself. Most critics didn’t fancy this film though audiences world-wide liked it, so much so that it is now the highest grossing Swedish film of all time. I enjoyed it and recommend, especially if you are looking for something zany and are not overly critical.
