A Steven Soderbergh action thriller, starring Gina Carano, Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas, Ewan McGregor, Channing Tatum, and Michael Fassbender is a disappointment. On its onset Haywire seems to have a good premise – a low budget spy genre thriller that has a real feel to it; that is, in comparison to a stylish Mission Impossible flick. But the cast delivers the dialogues with no conviction, and while the action scenes flow, everything else feels like a B movie or worse. The plot too seems to have been written to make the movie complicated rather than enjoyable.
All in all Haywire doesn’t deliver the goods. It is another one of Soderbergh’s misses, a smart director whose work I find highly uneven.
