The original Nick and Nora. The Thin Man was the first installment in a series of comic detective films, starring William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora Charles. Nick, a booze-loving retired detective, and his newlywed wife, Nora, a wealthy socialite, seem to bump into murder(s) and despite Nick disinterest, end up solving it. The wonderful chemistry between Powell and Loy, as well as a well-written script that allows for good balance of suspense with plenty of comical moments, make the film a charmer.
This film seems to have served as a model for many later attempts at couple’s suspect movies. Many have tried, only few did as well.
