Premium Rush delivers a fun end-of-summer thrill. It does so by keeping fast-pace chases, bringing the audience head-on into NYC’s bicycle messengers’ scene, and by casting Joseph Gordon-Levitt for the main role. On the low end, the plot is quite thin; there are several inconsistencies and moments that do more than stretch reality, and on top of is all, Michael Shannon, cast as the antagonist, reads non-credible. Yet, there is enough charm in Gordon-Levitt and most of the other characters to make us somewhat care. And what emotions do not achieve, fast fun bicycle action does.
Go with little expectations, bring along a bicycle helmet, and good chances you’ll have fun.
