Form without content, this film is more concerned with being inventive (which it is), original (which is it) and stylish, than with telling a compelling story, or having characters with minimal depth... The idea for this film would have been satisfied with a cute 30 minute short, but dragging over close to two hours proved to be, for me and my two companions, more than we can stomach. The film tries to marry comics, video games, music, martial arts style fights, and a love triangle, amongst other topics, into one tasteless salad. With no soul to bare, all these ornaments do not hold together, and Cera is not a strong enough actor to carry a feature like this on his slender shoulders. I was sorry to see the rave reviews this film received from some other critics who seem to be sidetracked by the originality of the visual style and maybe the loud music...
