The third and final installment of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy, delivers a conclusion to the previous two installments. This is to say that if you have not seen the previous two films – released in the USA under the title names The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire, don’t bother. But if you are a fan, despite the mixed reviews and uneven film pace, it’s still worth watching.
Less engaging than the first film but an improvement over the second one, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest, delivers several intense scenes. Exceptionally played by Noomi Rapace as the title character Lisbeth, with good supporting performances by several characters, including a late new comer to the film series Annika Hallin in the role of Lisbeth’s attorney, the 2.5 hours long film seems to aim at satisfying the audience rather than deliver deeper layers. Still, seeing a foreign film with subtitles(!) at a major theater chain such as AMC, is a delightful surprise all by itself...
