Big (1988) ****

BigThough not unique in its theme of age-change, Big has a certain sense of authenticity that awakens the child in its adult viewers. It is not so much a film about a child wanting to grow up as it is about our wish to preserve that childhood innocence; when the world was much less complicated and all about fun. Directed with a steady hand by Penny Marshall, and staring an irresistible young Tom Hanks, with good support by Elizabeth Perkins and Jared Rushton, the film  combines very light comedy, a touch of romance and a view of adult life through a looking glass.
